The Axminster Craft AC118E is a compact Craft cyclone extractor for the craft woodworker. Although designed with amateur woodworkers in mind, this extractor boasts many of the same qualities found in cyclone dust extractors in professional workshop settings.
Thanks to their unique blend of performance and capabilities, cyclone extractors work by separating the wood waste from the airstream, dumping the waste into the collection bag, with the airflow reaching the filter almost devoid of dust. This maintains performance and allows these machines to be used to extract from thicknessers, saws, sanders etc.
This machine is quite compact, with a tubular steel frame holding the cyclone body, filter and collection bag. The cartridge filter has a manual filter cleaning system. Castors ensure mobility around the workshop. There is a choice of either twin, 100mm or a single 125mm inlets. The hose size should not be less than 75mm, otherwise a marked drop in performance will occur. The collection bag is a generous 118L in size and held by a QR clip. There is a separate collection bag under the filter for fine dust which, in practice, will rarely need emptying. The 1.5kW (2hp) motor provides plenty of performance, but runs happily on a domestic 13A supply.
This extractor is efficient, reasonably quiet and very capable; for most home workshops it will be all that you will need.
