  1. Axminster Workshop 60mm Plane Blade
Total:
£18.96 £15.80

Axminster Workshop plane blades will fit No.4.1/2, No.5.1/2, No.6 and No.7 planes. The blade is cryogenically treated high carbon steel offering excellent edge retention. The blades are ground from 3mm thick stock and finish at approx. 2.8mm thickness. The thickness adds much needed strength and rigidity and eliminates nearly all chance of blade chatter. The blade comes with a 25° bevel, and only requires honing before use which can be done simply using conventional methods. For convenience, putting a 30° micro bevel on the edge can be done in less than a minute.

Note: At approx 2.8mm, the blades are thicker than most original blades supplied as standard. A thicker blade has many advantages, but in some cases may require a slightly longer cap iron screw. Occasionally the mouth of the plane may need fettling; opening slightly with a file.
