The KM-2 Kerfmaker allows you to make lap joints and other joints in stock up to 100mm wide. It is suitable for any blade with a kerf up to 25mm wide enabling you to use the KM-2 with a dado head.
Setup is in exactly the same way as the KM-1, 3 simple steps are all it takes to achieve a precisely fitting joint. Setting 1 comes from the kerf; setting 2 from the stock. Using the KM-2 against a stop or fence, cut one side of the groove, flip it over and cut the other side, then remove the waste. Taking settings directly removes any creeping errors due to transfer of measurements or calculations. The resulting groove or dado width will be exactly the same width as the piece of stock used as a reference - guaranteed.
In addition, magnets are embedded in the end of the 2 reference faces to hold the KM-2 in place for hands free use. The KM-2 also comes with a red magnetic reference stop, with which to clamp the KM-2 in place, either in the vertical or horizontal position.
The KM-2 is perfect for framework, box makers, shoji screens, torsion boxes, carcase work and drawer making - the list goes on. It is a tool that once used you will never want to lose. The KM-2 closed is 182mm in length, 44mm tall and 16mm thick. It gauges stock width up to 100mm with a maximum kerf of 25mm.
