Wataoka Wood Pro 90mm Extra Fine Half Round File is a Japanese-made woodworking file designed for fine shaping, refining and finishing tasks. Featuring an extra fine cut and half round profile, it combines flat and curved filing surfaces in a single tool, making it suitable for working on both flat and contoured shapes. With a 90mm working length, 200mm overall length and 10mm width, it offers excellent control, particularly when carrying out detailed work where accuracy is important.
The specially designed tooth pattern provides excellent bite whilst helping to minimise clogging during use. Designed to be used with light pressure, the file produces a slower, more controlled rate of material removal than coarser cuts, allowing greater accuracy when refining a workpiece. For best results, use light pressure and maintain contact with the workpiece on the return stroke to help reduce the accumulation of cutting dust on the file. The extra fine No. 8 cut leaves a notably smooth surface, often making it the preferred choice after a No. 5 cut file when a finer finish is required.
This version features a 90mm working length half round profile with a No. 8 extra fine cut. Suitable materials include wood, bamboo, plaster and synthetic resins. The combination of flat and curved surfaces makes it well suited to smoothing, refining and shaping both straight edges and gentle curves. The narrow 10mm width allows access to tighter areas and finer details, whilst the finish achieved is comparable to approximately 280 grit abrasive.
