A classic design 778 rebate plane. The Faithfull 778 will cut rebates up to 38mm wide. The width is determined by an adjustable fence supported by twin guide rods. The fence can be used on either side of the plane.

The plane’s cast iron body features a choice of two positions for the blade, one for normal work and one for stopped rebates. For working across the grain, a small spur scores the wood ahead of the blade for a clean finish The spur can be rotated out of the way when not required. A depth stop ensures any rebate is consistent along the length to a depth up to approximately 16mm. (note the spur and depth stop can only be used on the right hand side of the plane looking down in it). A fine screw adjuster gives you precise control of the depth of cut.

Note: Faithfull planes represent excellent value for money. As such they may not be quite as refined as more expensive examples. A little work sharpening the blade and maybe some minor fettling will be most rewarding.
