This plane is probably the most widely used of all bench. In addition, it comes in a hinged wooden storage case for safe keeping. The No.4 Smoothing Plane: as the name implies, is designed for smoothing and final finishing. However its size makes it a very manageable tool for all manner of general planing tasks.

The Faithfull No.4 has a grey cast iron body for strength and stability. The base and sides are ground flat and square. The lever cap has a brass locking screw, enabling easy release for sharpening the blade. The plane features both depth and lateral blade adjustment. A wooden handle and tote complete the No.4.

Note: Faithfull planes represent excellent value for money. As such they may not be quite as refined as more expensive examples. A little work sharpening the blade and maybe some minor fettling will be most rewarding.
