The combination of a Festool circular saw, jigsaw, router or insulation saw with the Festool Guide Rail creates a superb system for cutting sheet materials. The guide rails have two PTFE strips embedded into them to allow the tool to slide smoothly on the rail. On the underside of the rail there are two neoprene strips which hug the surface of the material, reducing slippage. There is also a special rubber strip on the underside which is used to minimise splintering on the top surface of the board. This strip is cut by the saw blade on the first cut and thereafter supports the upper face of the material whilst it is being cut.
