UJK Universal Dovetail Jig
Flying the flag for British Made tools! This April, we’re delighted to announce the launch of our brand new UJK Universal Dovetail Jig, designed, developed and British made. And we couldn’t be more proud to share this news with you.Â
UJK Universal Dovetail Jig
With strong associations of quality and craft, and highly prized worldwide, British Made products offer peace of mind that you’re investing in the best! With this in mind, we're delighted to showcase the UJK Universal Dovetail Jig, available to buy online, in store or over the phone.
1 jig, 6 joints
Straight out of the box, the UJK Universal Dovetail Jig gives you the possibility of producing six different joints, with unrivalled accuracy! Plus, it's simple to use and easy to set up. View the jig and buy yours now.
Half blind dovetails
Used primarily for drawer box construction, half blind dovetails show the pins and tails on one side of the joint, while remaining completely invisible on the other. This makes them ideal for fastening drawer fronts to drawer sides.
Sliding dovetails
Frequently used in case work to connect shelves to side walls or between shelves in drawer dividers, sliding dovetails are deceptively simple joints to make using this jig.
Through dovetails
As one of the strongest joints available, the through dovetail joint has many benefits. These include being aesthetically pleasing thanks to its interlocking capabilities and resistance to being pulled apart. Furthermore, it offers a large gluing area, however the joint will also hold together even without glue!
Box/Finger joints
Ideal for making boxes and other solid cube shapes such as chests and carcases, precise comb or finger joints offer castellations with a very long glue line.
Groove/housing joints
Useful for adding partitions into cabinets and bookcases, a groove/housing joint is a strong and reliable joint that's simple to make. A trench is cut into which the end of another component is inserted.
Corner dovetail rebates
Simple to construct, corner dovetail rebates enable mating parts to align easily and accurately. Furthermore, they create a larger gluing surface which provides a greater load-bearing capability than standard butt joints.
UJK are proud to launch the ultimate companion
to the Universal Dovetail Jig
The British Made UJK Universal Dovetail Jig Fine Pitch Comb! A worthwhile addition to your set up, allowing you to create two more joints on the UJK Universal Dovetail Jig, a fine 6mm half-blind dovetail or box joint, perfect for small, intricate projects.

Made in the UK
The jig is made and developed at UJK's state-of-the art manufacturing facility in Britain. Straight out of the box it gives you the possibility of producing six different joints, with unrivalled accuracy. With "British Made" status, UJK takes particular pride in the manufacture of their own products and this couldn't be more true with the UJK Universal Dovetail Jig.
From concept, design, material selection and sourcing through to prototype development, testing, quality control and finally, the production of the jig itself, when we say 'British Made' we are able to truly mean it. Please note: the knobs and cutters are not made in the UK.
High quality materials
The base of the jig is robustly made from heavy gauge steel. Other parts precisely CNC machined; a combination of accuracy and strength. The super hard anodised finish on the finger templates ensure long term accuracy. The jig features a stabiliser bar located in front of the hard anodised comb. This provides a much greater surface area to support your router’s base. It is also where that the quick fit magnetic extraction nozzle fits.
Simple set up and use
For convenience, the UJK Universal Dovetail Jig is straightforward to set up and use. An 11mm offset at each end of the template greatly speeds up initial marking. Finally, fast cam action clamps, hold your workpieces quickly and securely.
Fantastic dust extraction
The UJK Universal Dovetail Jig incorporates an impressive dust extraction outlet. Held in place by a strong magnetic strip, the outlet is easily detached when loading workpieces in your jig.
Compatible with a range of routers
The UJK Universal Dovetail Jig lets you achieve perfect joints, every time. Very simple to use compared to the more complex jigs and at a fraction of the price, the new dovetail jig from UJK can be used with any router that will take 1/4″, 8mm or 1/2″ shank cutters.

- Two American style threaded guide bushes

Firstly, drilling straight and accurate holes freehand isn’t easy. If you want real accuracy, many people turn to a pillar drill but not everyone has the room for a floor standing or even a bench mounted model. To overcome this problem the improved UJK Drill Guide with 10mm chuck has been designed to be an accurate, portable pillar drill. Read our informative guide to discover the key features that will help you drill the perfect hole.
Next, if you want strong and hidden joints, UJK Pocket Hole Jigs offer a perfect solution. Read our guide to learn more about some of the advantages of using pocket hole jigs for your woodworking projects.

Post Updates:
Added in another benefit under the 1 jig, 6 joints heading. 'Plus, it's simple to use and easy to set up.'
"can be used with any router that will take 1/4″, 8mm and 1/2″ shank cutters."
do you mean "or" rather than "and" ( What you have written means that routers which only 1/4" or 8mm cutters will not work )
My Leigh cutters are ½" and 8mm (using a sleeve in a ½" collett) non are ¼
I think most people will understand what is meant, only people who have at least a basic understanding of routing would purchase this jig. Isn't it great to have a UK made rather than far east product to purchase?
Hi Keith,
Thanks for your comment. I have updated it to 'or' rather than 'and' to make it clearer for everyone.
Thank you.
OK - new to this and now seriously looking a this jig ... been looking for a while and was going to pop for the other Axminster jig or the Trend600, more capacity than I need today but who knows? Was thinking of making some mods for what I wanted too and frustrated that there were a few bits I would have to buy to make the Trend or other Axminster jig work for me. I think this has all I need - so now it is a question of do I really need 600mm (not for a while?) and of course the price. But so far what's in the box, the colour (shallow I know) and UK made is really swinging it for me ...
Great to see that this is now in production !
I get it. Buying new kit can be fun. You can't take all that money with you. But when I see posts saying things like 'just getting into this…' etc I despair. I really do.
Why not buy yourself a good quality dovetail saw and a few good chisels and learn to cut the joints properly? Of course if you are banging out projects for sale and are more interested in quantity over quality then fine but honestly, once you move onto these kind of machines and jigs you are no longer woodworking but have now become machine operators with a little assembly work thrown in.
Learn the craft first. Then when these or other tools are required there will be no need for 'research' questions appearing on these kind of posts. Anyone who knows how to cut good tight-fitting joints will be able to see from that video above that this jig as as good as a lot of the other jigs but by no means near as good as the Leigh dovetail or Mortice & Tenon jigs.
For what it is worth I would be very disappointed with some fo those dovetails made by the jig in the video if they were coming straight from my saw. If the jig setup is easy to fine tune to get tight fitting joints then the time should have been taken to do so and not show us examples destined for the burn pile. It might actually be the case that what we see was the best this jig can offer. I guess you will have to spend your money to find out… or buy a dovetail saw and learn to use it. Then you won't be limited to joints all looking the same size regardless of the piece in question.

Is it possible to get an adjustable comb to allow for different dovetail sizes and spacing?
Torn between this and the Porter-Cable jig..... are there any plans to create a "micro" template similar to the P-C 4215 to enable smaller dovetails in thinner stock?
I like that this is UK made etc but want to be able to joint 9mm stock for craft cabinets etc.
Hi,
Thank you for your message. We hope to be able to do this in the future.
The plan is for a half pitch straight comb for mini box & half blind.
I hope this helps. Thanks, Hannah
Hi
Having the Triton TRA001 router could you recommend guide bushing to use this jig or would I need a new router ?
BR Claus
Hi Claus,
The jig is supplied with threaded guide bushes and the Tritan TRC001 takes the 704R Leigh adaptor (Axminster code 310023).
