Five Ideas For Halloween Decorations
Halloween is a great time to learn some new tricks! Here are a few ideas on how to turn your workshop waste into Halloween decorations. Not only are these simple and inexpensive they are also great to do with your little monsters (monsters, zombies and children must always be supervised by an adult when operating tools and machinery).

We've prepared a selection of templates for you to use with a scroll saw or as a painting outline. We've used some of them for our projects, but there's plenty more to choose from!
Project 1 - Branch Pumpkins
This project can be made to any scale, we've used a small tree branch to demonstrate its simplicity. This makes it an ideal introduction to woodworking.

Project 2 - Pumpkin Blocks
These blocks were made from a discarded edge of timber, so we used a bandsaw as opposed to a handsaw. But if your material is already square then a handsaw will do. Although it's a simple concept it can easily take more complex designs, such as a 3D puzzle with a different design painted on each side or can be carved to shape.

Project 3 - Wood Block Ghouls
These planks should be readily available in your workshop and the prep can be as simple as just cutting the wood to size. As we've used an old pallet we put ours through a planer, making the surface more accepting of paint.

Project 4 - Stacking Pumpkin
This is another easy but effective idea that can take more elaborate painted designs. You could even hollow it out to create a candle holder.

Project 5 - Ghosts
These ghosts can be stuck into your front garden to spook trick or treaters. We have used a pyrography pen to draw the face but you could also carve or paint it on. Download our free stencils for more design ideas.
