Axminster Journeyman's Mallet is a compact brass carving mallet designed for precise, controlled strikes when working with carving tools, chisels and other edge tools. Its concentrated weight and comfortable size make it ideal for tasks that demand finesse rather than heavy force, helping deliver accurate cuts with minimal effort.
The solid brass head focuses impact directly into the cutting edge, reducing bounce and improving control during detailed work. The round profile allows the mallet to be used from any angle without needing to align a striking face, making it particularly comfortable during extended carving sessions. The smoothly finished hardwood handle provides a secure grip and excellent balance, whether held conventionally or used with the head cradled in the palm for greater control.
Weighing approximately 350g, the mallet features a 33mm diameter brass head and an overall length of 150mm. The substantial brass construction provides consistent striking performance, while the compact dimensions make it easy to handle during delicate carving and bench work.
The Axminster Journeyman range offers reliable, practical tools that deliver excellent value, making traditional woodworking and carving more accessible without compromising performance.
Ideal for woodcarvers, furniture makers, instrument makers and woodworking enthusiasts, the Axminster Journeyman's Mallet is perfect for fine detail work, light chisel use and controlled carving cuts where precision is more important than power.
