SawStop Table Saw Brake Cartridge 8" Dado

The SawStop Standard Brake Cartridge for 203mm (8) blades is a critical safety component designed to stop a spinning blade instantly upon contact with skin, dramatically reducing the risk of serious injury. This cartridge is compatible with all standard 8 blades used on SawStop saws.

At the heart of the system is a lightning-fast microprocessor that continuously monitors voltage coming from the blade. When a drop in voltage is detected, indicating contact with skin, the system activates within 5 milliseconds. The integrated RS232 port plugs the brake cartridge into the saw, serving as the communication interface between the microprocessor and the blade.

A heavy-duty spring, held under 68 kg of pressure, drives an aluminium block directly into the blade’s path, stopping it almost instantly. A mylar debris shield insulates the brake mechanism from metal particles, helping to prevent accidental activation when cutting through nails, staples, or screws.

For uninterrupted workflow, it’s recommended to keep a spare brake cartridge on hand. After an activation, simply replace the blade and cartridge and you’ll be back to work in minutes.

The cartridge is compatible with all standard 203mm (8) dado sets up to 2.3cm (29/32) thick and is suitable for use with all wood and other non-conductive materials. A single locking key allows quick and easy switching between the standard brake cartridge and the dado brake cartridge when changing between standard and dado cuts.
