A saw designed for precise, straight cuts, with a height adjustable and tilting saw blade, up to 45°. It is made for the fine mechanic, model builder, mould making, toy manufacture, architect, model carpenter and fitter. A variety of optional blades allow it to cut a wide range of materials, such as wood, non-ferrous metals, plastics, Plexiglas, PC cards, foam and many others. All load bearing parts and plane-milled table are made of die-cast aluminium making the FET saw very stable.
The table and drive lift for easy access for cleaning or changing the saw blade. The micro-adjustable, precise cut length stop allows cuts as small as 0.1mm to be made and as deep as 22mm. The saw blade, which can be pivoted by 45°, makes the cutting of double mitres possible when used with the angle stop. The FET is driven by a special DC motor with Optibelt toothed belts connecting it to the main ball bearing supported shaft. Standard equipment supplied with the saw includes a 36 tooth Tungsten Carbide tipped saw blade 80 x 1.6 x 10mm. A push stick and a non-slotted polycarbonate sawing table inset for tight tolerances between saw blade and table when cutting small parts. The FET has a dust adaptor suitable for connection to a vacuum for dust free working.

A versatile little table sawI build static model sailing ships and frequrntly need to make strip wood to a specific dimension. The perfect tool fot this is the mini table saw. The most sought after by serious modellers, sadly costs serious money and I daren't name here!. At the best part of £1000 when bought with the micrometer rip fence accessory, it is a little prohibitive. The Proxxon seemed second choice for quality, but a clear winner in value for money.
The first change to mine was to fit the much finer blade from Proxxon. Included with the saw is a blank top plate. This was fitted and the new blade set in its lowest position. The saw was turned on and the blade slowly raised to the highest cutting position. This put a very close fitting slot into the top plate. Narrow strips can now be cut, without the strip ending up mangled, inside the saw case.
The width of strip can be accurately adjusted by the micrometer screw on the rip fence. Although the fence has a habit of lifting from the table surface and allowing thin strips to get underneath if you aren't very careful. This can be minimised by locking the lever operated clamp screw after adjustment, but this can then cause the fence to move slightly as the locking screw is tightened. It is also essential to keep the adjustment spring about the middle of its range as it goes very notchy at its extremities.
The saw makes beautiful cuts but the fine adjustment isn't quite as easy as it could be.
A big plus is the highly effective dust extraction system, although I may shift the outlet port from the backplate to one of the sides as the standard position takes up a lot of space back to front when used on a narrow bench.
Having said all this, I am pleased with my purchase

Too expensiveI bought this 3 weeks ago and am disappointed it does not match my expectations. Buying Proxxon I thought I was buying a quality product. There is a cheap plastic feel to this machine which impacts how confident one is in using it. Fitting the safety guard was not easily described in the instructions and resulted in it not being aligned with the blade which I discovered with painful cost. I have a proxxon bench drill which is far superior in finish and accuracy.

Disappointing on accuracyA neat tool and reasonably well designed, although the combined rise and fall/tilt arrangement is awkward for big hands. But a major flaw is that the fence on my machine is not parallel to the blade and the clamping arrangement allows the fence to tilt slightly, making accurate distancing from the blade only possibly if handled very delicately. Disappointing for a relatively expensive machine. Saw guard more trouble than it's worth on a machine this size. I'd rather have a clear view of potential danger (and even such a small machine can clearly inflict damage) than rely on a flimsy and awkward to adjust piece of orange plastic. Still a useful machine, but would definitely expect better quality at the price paid. Axminster delivery service however was characteristically first class.

A lovely little sawI am very pleased with the quality of this little saw, I bought it for a new hobby while the corona virus keeps me indoors. It is extremely accurate and well designed and should last a lifetime with careful use. The price is a little high but apart from that I have no criticisms.

Good but faultyNicely designed machine, well made except the two mitre grooves were slightly different in width so the mitre fence was loose on the left groove so no accurate angles could be cut.

Are there any blades or cutting disks that can be used on this machine to cut stainless or mild steel?
Asked by: ship691
It really struggles with aluminium, so I wouldn’t even dream of trying steel.

Exactly What fuses are needed? not the one in the plug, the one that can be replaced in the side of the machine.
really would appreciate a hyperlink
thanks
