The Bedrock design ensures maximum stability and support for the cutting iron, reducing chatter and delivering reliable, consistent results. The body is cast from ductile grey iron with a precision-ground flat sole, giving the plane a reassuring weight and smooth, accurate performance. The fully adjustable frog allows you to set the mouth for coarse or fine work without removing the blade, giving you greater control and confidence in adjustment.

Fitted with a cryogenically treated high carbon steel blade, the Rider No. 5 offers superb edge retention and durability. The blade is supplied ground with a 25° bevel and requires only a quick hone before use. Adding a 30° micro bevel can be done in just a minute.

Featuring a solid brass adjusting nut for smooth depth control, an investment-cast ‘Y’ lever for positive engagement with the blade, and a traditional disc-type lateral lever for accurate adjustment. The hardwood handle and knob are carefully shaped for comfort, even during extended use.
