These hardened stainless steel rules from Shinwa are the most widely used rules by other Japanese manufacturers. All the rules are manufactured to Shinwa's high standards.
The scales are deep-etched for permanence, with graduations in ½ millimetres on the bottom edge and millimetres on the top edge. The rules have an anti-glare, matt pearl chrome finish for easy reading. They read zero from the left hand end with a hanging hole at the opposite end. The backs of the rules feature a useful millimetre-inch conversion table and a tapping drill table.
Shinwa rules are made to Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS B7516 Grade 1). The length tolerance of the rulers is measured between two arbitrary scale marks at a temperature of 20 °C.
300mm: Overall length 335mm x Width 25mm x Thickness 1mm.
600mm: Overall length 640mm x Width 30mm x Thickness 1.2mm.
