The Axminster Woodturning Tool Rest System is a unique system, designed to make your turning smoother.

Your tool rest is the point of contact between you, the lathe, the tool and the work. It is important that the tool has the smoothest possible transit along the rest. Any bumps, ridges or hollows soon take the pleasure out of turning. Most standard tool rests are cast iron or relatively soft steel. These rests can soon develop nicks along their length and require occasional draw filing to bring them back into a usable condition. The Axminster Woodturning Tool Rest System overcomes this problem.

To make the system as economic as possible, Axminster Woodturning produces the tool rests and tool posts as separate items. Before selecting a tool rest you need to purchase a tool post. The tool rest screws onto the tool post.

The Axminster Woodturning Traditional Tool Rests are the ideal choice if you are looking for greater support and comfort when you turn. Featuring a large, round, hardened steel bar which is welded on top of cast steel rest. The bar lets the tool glide effortlessly whilst you turn, whilst the rest's concave design gives you greater support and comfort, whether you're using an overhand or underhand grip. Allowing you to turn for long periods at a time.

Available in 100mm (4"), 150mm (6"), 200mm (8"), 300mm (12"), the Traditional Tool Rests are fully compatible with the Axminster Woodturning modular tool rest system (excluding the 12mm post code: 109897). Once screwed onto your tool post, these two parts form the ideal support for all your turning tools.
