Heavy Duty Cast Iron Construction
Provides strength, whilst dampening vibration. Brush finish on bed surface, allows smooth movement of banjo and tailstock.
Electronic Variable Speed Control Unit
Enables fine tuning of speed to suit delicate work, larger diameters or out of balance work pieces. The magnetic backed switch unit can be placed on any convenient position on the lathe bed or headstock to suit the work in hand.
LED Digital Read-Out
An LED digital read-out of the spindle speed in RPM is a useful feature that helps control your work.
750W (1HP) Motor & Variable Frequency Inverter Drive (VFD)
Fitted with a quality variable frequency inverter drive (VFD) ensures super smooth starting, acceleration and deceleration which is all powered by a 750W (1HP) motor.
Distance Between Centres
400mm (16") between centres and a 350mm (14") swing over the bed capacity is generous on a lathe this compact.
Compact Design
The overall length (830mm), width (330mm), height (430mm) and weight (41kg) means it can be fit into a car boot for easy transportation which is made easier with the carry handles on both ends of the lathe.
Supplied with drive and centres
The lathe is supplied with Four Prong Drive and Revolving Tailstock Centres; both designed and manufactured in Axminster, UK.
Headstock
This lathe has a 33 x 3.5mmm spindle which is a large size for such a small lathe. This adds more strength and reduces vibration. The hollow spindle is 2MT which allows a wide range of accessories to be used with the machine.
Banjo
The banjo is made from cast iron construction with an easy to use, cam lock lever. A 25.4mm 1” stem provides strength and support for the tool and helps reduce vibration. A 150mm 6” tool rest is supplied as standard.
Tailstock
The ergonomic tailstock design provides strength to hold the work, but light enough to be removed from the lathe easily. There’s 60mm of travel which is adjusted with a metal handle. The hollow tailstock construction allows the centres to be removed and provides access to use long hole boring augers.
The AP350WL utilises the reliable inverter technology usually found on much larger machines. Electronic variable speed is a desirable feature for woodturners, enabling fine tuning of speed to suit delicate work, larger diameters or out of balance pieces. A three step poly-V pulley system allows three speed ranges which coupled with the load sensing inverter ensure maximum torque and stable spindle speeds.
The magnetic backed switch unit can be placed in any convenient position on the lathe bed or headstock to suit the work in hand. It incorporates on/off buttons, a speed control knob and forward and reverse switch. The LED digital read-out of the spindle speed gives you complete control. The AP350WL has a generous capacity of 400mm (16") between centres and a 350mm (14") swing over the bed. Spindle features 24 division indexing. Threaded holes (3/8"x16 UNC) are provided at each corner of the lathe for bench mounting. Tool post diameter 25.4mm (1"). This lathe has proved to be very popular for both teaching and craft demonstrations, not too big nor heavy but with enough capacity to show off your skills. Supplied with four prong Axminster drive centre, Axminster revolving tailstock centre, 75mm faceplate and a knock-out bar.
N.B. The distance between centres will vary and be dependent on the type of centres or accessories fitted.
