Make It In March Competition 2022
It has been another great year for this year’s Make it in March Competition with so many incredible entries. Thank you to everybody who entered; we have been so impressed with the amount of talent showcased amongst our customers.
The competition has now closed and our winner has been chosen...
And the winner is...
A huge congratulations to Alex Breeze who has won the ultimate tool bundle! Both our judges, Hattie and Helen, were blown away by Alex's entry of the two bedside tables.
Here's what our judges had to say about your project...
It's an elegant piece of work, which clearly had a lot of thought put into the design. I particularly like the use of different woods used. Plus, to do it twice - just brilliant!
Helen Bailey - Expert woodturner and in-house resident at our Axminster Tools North Shields store
These both show excellent craft skills and knowledge of construction. The overall effect is lovely to look at, and again, making two the same shows real attention to detail!
Hattie Speed - Award winning Designer-Maker, Educator and Founder of This Girl Makes
The runners-up!
Congratulations to our three runners-up, Alastair Minus for his beautiful dressing table/writing desk made from American black walnut, Steve Iwasyk for his fun and charismatic colouring pencil gate and finally to Euan Mackay for his incredible hallway seat/storage unit!
The competition is now closed but you can see the other entries here…

UK residence only! Is this set in stone?
Hi Mark, thanks for your interest. Yes, currently our competition is limited to UK residents only. Thanks, Harriet.
?
Why don’t you have a prize draw for all entries, rather than the ‘best’ who probably have well equipped workshops already?
This would also encourage more beginners to participate.
Hi Mike, thanks for your comment and feedback. Our judges will be looking at a variety of creative elements when deciding on the winner, including interesting ideas, their concepts, as well as how they are made. Therefore, we endeavor to make sure every entry has a fair and strong chance of winning. Thanks, Harriet.
Hi Mike, I won this last year. As a vicar in a vicarage, I don't have a well equipped workshop, just half a garage, which I share with the lawnmower. I was surprised to win, but all I think you need is a good project and time and patience.
Hello,
Is it possible to add items to a previous entry?
Regards
Hi Frederick, by items do you mean additional work to your project? If so I would recommend deleting your original entry and re-submitting with an updated picture of your project. This would ensure you are not disqualified for multiple entries. I hope that clears your question?
Good luck.
Harriet
Thank you...I will give it a go. I don't stand a chance but entering is fun and it's great to see other people's
work. Well done
Thanks Frederick, look forward to seeing your entry!
Hi,
Not much of a tech wizard, how will I know if I have successfully uploaded my photos to the competition
Hi Andy, no problem, you should see your entry appear. Sometimes it can take a little longer to upload mind, so I would give it 24 hours.
Thanks and best of luck!
Harriet

Hi, there is no reply button with this link.
Hi, it may require you to set up an account before you are able to reply. Once you have done this you should be able to click reply, just below the details on How To Enter. I hope this helps and best of luck.
Hi how can you tell if your project has been entered in the competition please
Hi Martyn,
Depending on which platform you uploaded your image to, if it was through Instagram it will display on this post. If it was through our Community Forum or Facebook, then it would be worth checking those two channels to see if you can view your images. I hope that helps and best of luck!
Mine hasn’t shown up yet… ? I posted yesterday on Instagram.
Hi, first of all thanks for running this competition its very exciting seeing everyones submissions! I can't seem to find when the results will be announced though, any updated information on that?
Hi Alex, thank you for your comment and patience while we decide on our winner. We hope to be able to announce this by the end of this week, we are just taking our time to look through all of our brilliant entries! We will update on here as soon as we have our winner.
Thanks,
Harriet
Hi, I submitted a post on Twitter on 24th March ( https://twitter.com/stupotmcdoodle/status/1506993155677302791 ) which got a 'like' from @axminstertools, but I'm not sure if that means it was entered or not? I'm not able to see my entry anywhere.
When will we hear names of runners up to make it in March? I am of the opinion I should be one of them and keen to spend my winnings on an Axminster router table (just so you know the money will be well spent)
Hi Paul, thanks for your comment and participation - we really did have some incredible entries this year! You can look forward to the runners-up being announced on this blog post by this week.
Thanks,
Harriet
Hi
Has the runner up for the Make it in March been announced yet? I may have missed it :-)
