The Shokunin Atoma lapping plate is a solid block of precision machined aluminium, 210 x 75 x 10mm thick. All the ones we tested were very flat indeed. The intended use is as a backing and support for the Shokunin Atoma Self Adhesive Diamond Sheets. With a diamond sheet attached, you have a solid, flat diamond sharpening stone. Buying the aluminium separately gives the option of creating a combination stone by attaching different grit diamond sheets to each side.
