The stylish mid-century designs presented within this book were originally conceived by the Japanese design group KAK and appeared in the 1953 book 'Woodworking at Home'. More than half a century later the Tokyo based team of woodcraft experts have breathed new life into the designs and show off their enduring appeal for modern homes. Focusing on wooden furniture, it introduces 24 stylish furniture pieces along with step-by-step photographs, drawings and instructions.

The project team group monomono was formed in 1970 by Yoshio Akioka, a central figure of the KAK design group. They are based in Tokyo and have been leaders in the revival of woodworking and other handicrafts in Japan.
