Tru-Grind Sharpening System
Attaining the correct profiles on your turning tools could transform your turning. The advantages of using a jig are that the angles are easily repeatable and its use removes less material at each sharpening. The tool holder clamps gouges, skew chisels, parting tools and scrapers, making possible to present them to the wheel at the correct angle. The jig can produce a classic fingernail profile with swept-back wings on your bowl gouges, with one perfect single facet bevel. Even better, a particular chosen profile or angle is easy to reproduce time after time.
Woodcut Tools Tru-Grind CBN Grinding Wheel
150mm x 40mm x 15mm bore, 180 grit. Tru-Grind Cubic Boron Nitride(CBN) grinding wheels are a revelation for the sharpening of HSS turning tools. CBN abrasive is a similar product to synthetic industrial diamonds, but a CBN wheel is far better suited for sharpening high speed steels and will withstand the friction from grinding with much less heat produced than with a diamond wheel. They produce hardly any sparks, cut quickly and efficiently and will last for many years. Plus, because it will withstand the friction the wheel doesn't wear and therefore the jig will not need to be reset. No dressing is required and they leave a nice fine and even sharp edge.
