Join this 2-hour session and get to grips with spoon carving, led by the Exeter woodcarvers.

Tickets are £6 for the first session and return for further tuition for free to finish your spoon.​

Staff will be showing the Arbortech SpheroPlane in action by creating a wooden ball.

The Arbortech SpheroPlane is a powerful tool designed for woodworkers who want to create wooden bowls or spheres without the need for a lathe. This innovative tool simply attaches to an angle grinder and allows you to carve with precision and ease.

During this free demonstration, you will also get the chance to have a go with a range of Arbortech tools and try your hand at power carving.

You will be guided step-by-step in the preparation of your bowl blank right through to the turning and finishing of your bowl, which you get to take home at the end.

You will learn the basic skills required for faceplate turning. You will focus on chisel techniques for roughing down and refining your blank, using a range of woodturning tools, making this is the perfect course for anyone wanting to expand their basic woodturning skills.

All materials and PPE will be supplied.

The course is being offered at an introductory price: £100 (usual price £150).

Please note the following:

• Some prior knowledge or experience of woodturning would be advantageous, but is not essential.
• Course attendees should wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear.
• This course is not suitable for children below the age of 13.
• Children over the age of 13 can take part but should be accompanied by an adult.
• There will be a short 30minute break during the course where refreshments will be provided, but please note lunch is not included and should be brought along by attendees.

You will be guided step-by-step in the preparation of your pen blank right through to the turning, finishing and assembly of your selected pen, which you get to take home at the end.

You will learn the basic skills required for between centre turning. You will focus on chisel techniques for roughing down and refining your blank, using a range of woodturning tools, making this is the perfect course for anyone wanting to try woodturning for the first time.

All materials and PPE will be supplied.

The course is being offered at an introductory price £50 (usual price £75).

Please note the following:

• Course attendees should wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear.
• This course is not suitable for children below the age of 13.
