Together, we make more

Woodworking has never been a solitary craft. Step into any workshop and you'll find more than timber, tools and benches - you'll find shared advice, borrowed techniques and stories passed from one maker to the next. Community sits at the heart of our culture, shaping how we support, inspire and grow alongside the people who make things.

For over 50 years, we’ve built relationships with makers of every skill level. Whether someone is taking their first steps with hand tools or refining their signature style, we’re here to offer honest advice, genuine support, and tools we trust -before, during and long after a purchase.

Championing craft and connection

Woodworking is a heritage craft - one that’s been passed down for generations. We’re proud to support the people keeping these skills alive and accessible, from seasoned professionals to community groups who use making as a way to bring people together.

By shining a light on their talent, passion and generosity, we hope to inspire even more people to discover the confidence, creativity and wellbeing that making can bring.

Partners who make a difference

Stronger communities are built together. We collaborate with organisations that champion education, welfare, heritage craft and sustainable woodland skills. These partnerships help us extend our support far beyond our own walls and into the wider woodworking world.

We proudly work alongside: The Furniture Makers' Company, Men's Sheds, The Sylva Foundation, The Institute of Carpenters, The Worshipful Company of Turners and Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust & Heritage Crafts.

Workshops without walls

When our communities thrive, so does the craft. And we’re proud to play our part.

Online networks

Our community doesn't stop at the workshop door. Through our online networks - from the Axminster Community Forum to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and livestream broadcasts - makers can ask questions, share projects, solve problems and learn from others across the UK and beyond.

These platforms ensure that good advice is always available, whether you’re choosing your first lathe, troubleshooting a joinery cut, or showcasing a finished project you’re proud of.

Courses

Next, whether you’re interested in woodturning, carving, or expanding your tool knowledge, there’s an online woodworking course for you. Whichever course you choose, you’ll join a community of learners, sharing progress and tips along the way. Finally, join our in-store events and workshops to learn new skills, meet fellow makers, and get hands-on with the latest tools.

Building more than projects

For us, community is more than a collection of groups - it’s the spirit of woodworking itself. By supporting makers, nurturing skills, collaborating with partners and celebrating those who give back, we help keep the craft vibrant, inclusive and forward‑looking.
