The AT940DDS twin drum finishing sander is intended for large professional workshops. Power is supplied by a 5.5kW(415V, 3ph) for the sanding drums and a 190W for the conveyor belt drive.
The 150mm diameter drums are precision machined from aluminium castings. The abrasive is wound spirally around the drums and securely held by wedge clamps. Coarser abrasive on the front and finer on the rear. There is a very accurate setting system for the rear roller, allowing easy adjustment to accommodate the different grades of abrasive. Three pressure rollers maintain contact between the work and the conveyor belt. This ensures that the work is held in close contact with the belt, giving safe operation and a uniform thickness to the finished work.
A full width stop bar on the front of the machine can be reached from almost any position, enabling the machine to be stopped quickly.
The AP940DDS will handle thicknesses between 1mm and 133mm, adjustment is via a handwheel. A digital read-out scale allows accurate settings. Twin 100mm dust ports provide efficient dust extraction. N.B. Drum sanders are intended to be used with already planed and thicknessed material. Overall a planer/thicknesser is meant to dimension timber, the drum sander to finish it.
