Use this handled leather strop to take your tool’s sharp edge to the next level. Make your chisels, plane irons and knives truly razor sharp.

The strop is double-sided, 150mm x 50mm; one side is suede leather and the other smooth full grain leather. The overall length including the handle is 305mm. It comes with a bar of blue polishing compound, which will last for years.

Stropping is the final part in the process to achieve a truly sharp edge. Stropping has always been the way to finish a cutthroat razor; for a good reason. Stropping removes any micro burrs and polishes the bevel and back of the blade.

Charge the suede side by rubbing the compound like a crayon over the surface; leave the grain side clean. After sharpening and honing, drag the bevel of your blade gently but firmly along the charged surface several times. Then do the same with the back of the blade. Repeat the process using the clean grain side. Your blade will now be at its sharpest. The ease with which it cuts and the finished timber surface it leaves will prove the benefit of stropping. Regularly stropping will ensure you maintain the sharpest edge for the best performance.
