A Sedgwick CP planer thicknesser with a spiral cutter block is a formidable combination.

The machine is quality through and through, designed for long life and minimum maintenance. Sedgwick build the CP to withstand heavy use in a professional workshop. Solidity and reliability come as standard.

The Sedgwick CP’s rigid base gives it exceptional stability. The precisely machined cast iron surfacing tables do not require removal or tilting when thicknessing. There is nothing to reset on returning to surfacing. The rigid cast iron fence is quick and easy to adjust. It includes an adjustable "Shaw" guard for rebating.

The thicknessing table with extension rollers ensures precise, parallel results. Large diameter steel feed rollers (one fluted, one rubber coated) are gear and chain driven. The 3ph option has 2 feed speeds. Both options feature a braked motor and have a conveniently located emergency stop switch.

The innovative spiral cutter block has 51 tungsten carbide cutters arranged in 3 spiral rows. The cutters have 4 edges and each edge has a very slight radius. The result is a shear cutting action. Like a hand plane with a skewed blade, it produces very clean cut, particularly in difficult and figured wood grain.

The spiral block offers many advantages. Increased durability: each edge lasts around 10-20 times longer than a HSS knife; each cutter has 4 edges. Noise reduction: spiral blocks are up to 50% quieter with many timbers. Power saving: the shearing action can use 30% less power, reducing strain on the machine and lowering running costs. Efficient extraction: the size and consistent shape of the chips, means more pack into a waste sack. Time saving: the silky smooth surface requires far less finishing and is devoid of the usual fine ripples associated with traditional planer knives.

Available in single phase or 3-phase and proudly made in UK.
