The Easy Wood Tools Mini Easy Rougher™ is a carbide woodturning tool designed for efficient material removal and shaping on small to medium projects, including small bowls, spindles, and general craft work.
Positioned between the Micro and Mid‑Size ranges, it offers the ideal balance of control and capability for turners working beyond miniature work, but not yet at larger scales.
Fitted with a square replaceable carbide cutter, the Mini Easy Rougher™ removes material cleanly while remaining easy to control. Its compact yet more substantial size provides greater stability than Micro tools, while still being easy to handle.
The flat‑profile bar sits securely on the tool rest, allowing smooth, controlled cuts without the need to learn complex angles or sharpening techniques.
The Mini Easy Rougher™ delivers fast, clean material removal while maintaining excellent control on smaller blanks. It is well suited to shaping small bowls, rounding spindles, and establishing basic forms before switching to a finisher or detailer.
Used parallel to the floor at centre height, the tool remains stable on the rest, helping reduce catches and allowing for predictable cutting — particularly useful when progressing from smaller projects to more varied turning work.
Easy Wood Tools’ long‑lasting carbide cutters hold an edge many times longer than HSS and are suitable for dry or green wood, as well as acrylics. With no sharpening needed, maintenance is simple — when the edge dulls, just loosen the fixing screw and rotate or replace the cutter.
The shaft is engraved with the corresponding carbide cutter reference number for easy identification.
All Easy Wood Tools are 100% made in the USA.
