The mop consists of sisal fibres sandwiched between calico cloth discs with spiral stitching to maintain the shape. Sisal mops have a more aggressive action when compared to a standard stitched mop. Commonly, sisal mops along with a suitable compound are the first stage of the process when polishing steel and ferrous metal. Sisal mops are useful in the preparation of harder non-ferrous metal where the surface condition of the piece is particularly poor.
Use a felt tip pen to note the compound used on the mop to avoid cross contamination.
These mops have a 12.7mm (1/2") plain bore, designed for direct mounting onto the Axminster AW150BB/AC150BB 150mm Buffing Machine. They can, of course, fit onto any similarly designed 12.7mm (1/2") or 13mm shaft. They are not suitable for use with a pigtail type mounting. The mops are 13mm wide. Made in the UK.
