Specialised small joinery plane, ideal for cutting grooves, such as those used for small drawer and box bottoms. It also has the ability to cut rebates (grooves with one open side), as well as decorative beads. The compact, light weight design allows you to work closer to your projects for longer periods of time.
The Veritas Box-Makers Plough Plane features a 139.7mm (5 1/2") long ductile cast iron body, weighs 652g (1lb 7oz) and has a machined 45° blade bed. The grip has been sculpted to fit the hand for maximum comfort and can be used with one hand, if necessary. The ergonomic design of the fence makes it easy to keep it firmly in contact with the work. It can be adjusted to plough a groove up to 63.5mm (2 1/2") from the edge of your work and a small recess in the sub fence lets you make cuts narrower than the blade width. Features relieved edges to avoid marking the workpiece.
Large brass knurl knobs make adjustments fast and easy without the need for tools. A brass knob secures the blade from the side to ensure vertical alignment with the skate, and another holds it from the top to lock the depth setting. The depth of the groove or rebate can be easily locked in place up to a maximum of 96.5mm (3/8") deep.
Supplied with a 6.35mm (1/4") wide lapped A2 tool steel blade. Can be used with any Veritas Plough Plane blades from 4mm up to 10mm (1/8" up to 3/8") wide. Available in both left and right handed versions.
