Shaper joins Festool | What This Transition Means For You
For over a decade, Shaper has been redefining precision woodworking with innovative digital tools like the ground-breaking Shaper Origin handheld CNC router. Now, an exciting new chapter is beginning.
Shaper has announced that its product line-up will officially become part of the Festool portfolio from January 2027, following many years of close collaboration between the two brands. As a trusted stockist of both Shaper and Festool products, we wanted to explain what this change means for our customers and answer some of the key questions you may have.
Shaper to officially join the Festool family
After working together for more than ten years, including the manufacturing of Origin and more recently BenchPilot, Shaper and Festool have recognised a strong alignment in their approach to quality, innovation and craftsmanship.
As a result, Shaper's products will move into the Festool portfolio from 2027. The move brings together Shaper's digital precision technologies with Festool's renowned engineering expertise, creating opportunities for future innovation and product development.
From our side, there's a couple of things to note. Firstly, you'll now be able to take advantage of an EXTENDED 3-year warranty* on all purchases (*previously 2-year warranty) to celebrate the news. What's more, customers with Shaper accounts will begin transitioning to MyFestool accounts from 15th December 2026.
The good news is that the tools you know and trust aren't going anywhere. If you're already a Shaper customer, you can continue to use your equipment as normal. Shaper and Festool have confirmed their ongoing commitment to:
Origin software support
Origin software will continue to be maintained and updated throughout the transition and beyond. Existing users can expect continued support for the platform and its digital capabilities.
Product support
Festool has committed to supporting Shaper customers as the transition takes place, helping to ensure continuity of service and support.
The same commitment to precision
Both brands share a passion for quality workmanship and precision engineering. This transition is designed to build upon that foundation rather than change what makes Shaper products unique.
What does this mean for Axminster Tools customers?
For our customers, the transition should be straightforward. You can continue purchasing Shaper products through Axminster Tools while stock remains available, and we'll continue supporting our customers throughout this change. Shaper tape will still be available to purchase through our website, too.
In the longer term, Shaper products will become part of the wider Festool family, combining:
- Shaper's innovative digital technology
- Festool's engineering expertise
- Continued support for professional tradespeople and serious makers
We see this as a positive development that has the potential to bring even more innovation to woodworking and CNC routing in the years ahead.
Extended warranty opportunity
As part of the transition, Shaper is offering an additional year of warranty coverage for eligible Origin owners. Customers with an active Shaper Origin warranty can register their tool to receive an extra year of coverage, effectively extending protection from Shaper's standard two-year warranty to Festool's three-year warranty.
