What you learn

You will be guided step‑by‑step in the preparation of your bowl blank, right through to the turning and finishing of your bowl, which you get to take home at the end.

You will learn the basic skills required for faceplate turning. You will focus on chisel techniques for roughing down and refining your blank, using the Axminster Woodturning Essential Tool Set, making this the perfect course for anyone wanting to expand their basic woodturning skills.

Online bowl course

If you do not live near one of our stores, or prefer to learn in your own time and at your own pace, then why not explore our online bowl turning course for beginners.

With this online course, our expert woodturner, Colwin Way, will teach you how to turn your first bowl from start to finish, focusing on tool techniques for turning as well turning wet bowls for blank storage, finishing and texturing techniques.

This course comprises a series of short instructional videos. It also offers additional advice and guidance on safety and PPE and includes a course booklet full of supporting material.
