The Easy Wood Tools Mid‑size Easy Hollower™ #1 is a carbide woodturning tool designed for removing the bulk of waste material from inside hollow forms and from the centre of medium to large bowls.
As the first tool in the 1‑2‑3 hollowing system, Hollower #1 provides controlled access to the interior of a form, making the early stages of hollowing safer, faster, and more predictable.
Equipped with a solid carbide cutting tip and a 12.7mm square section shaft, the Mid‑size Easy Hollower™ #1 sits flat and secure on the tool rest, giving excellent stability and easy control with no sharpening required.
The 355mm American maple handle provides confident leverage during waste‑removal cuts, allowing turners to deepen forms safely before switching to Hollower #2 or #3 for refinement.
Hollower #1 is optimised for efficient interior waste removal on bowls and hollow forms.
With the tool held parallel to the floor at centre height, the square shaft keeps it flat on the rest, helping to minimise catches and snatches while working inside unseen cavities.
Its geometry gives clear, predictable cutting action - ideal for initial hollowing before moving on to shaping and smoothing tools.
With no sharpening needed, simply loosen the fixing screw and rotate the cutter to expose a fresh edge when it dulls.
Easy Wood Tools’ long‑lasting carbide holds an edge many times longer than HSS and performs reliably on dry or green wood and acrylics.
